How it all started
Welcome to Dobber! Let's take a moment to paddle back and see how it all started. Imagine this: a second-hand kayak, envisioning a refreshing glide through Ghent's waterways on a hot summer day, only to be met with the logistical nightmare of actually getting near the water’s edge.
Frustration kicked in, fuelled by arguments with my girlfriend along the way - sounds relatable? But in that moment, inspiration struck. What if accessing a kayak was as easy as grabbing a bike from a sharing station. No more dragging, no more hassle - just carefree enjoyment of floating on the water. And with that, Dobber was born. Not out of some grand business scheme, but from a simple, personal snag: getting on the water in a kayak shouldn't be an epic quest.
Why does Dobber exist?
At its core, Dobber is about more than just paddling. It's about enabling people to reclaim those little moments of peace, adventure, and connection. It's for those magical conversations that unfold when you're side by side, gliding away, without the distractions of the daily grind.
