We'll already give you the inspiration you need for a great time on the water.

Why go kayaking with your kids?

Kayaking with children is not only a fun activity, but it also helps them develop. For example, they learn to balance, work together to make the boat move forward, and they can enjoy nature. Moreover, together, you create memories that will stay with you for a long time.

How can you go kayaking safely and fun with children?

Of course, kayaking with children requires a slightly different approach than with adults.

Here are some tips to make your experience safe and enjoyable:

  • Choose a stable kayak: our sit-on-top kayaks are ideal for beginners and kids. Read more about our duo kayaks here.
  • Always wear a life jacket: this is mandatory for both adults and children and is therefore an absolute must. In our lockers, you will find life jackets of small to larger sizes.
  • Start on calm water: avoid strong currents and choose a calm river or lake.
  • Don't make it too long: kids have a shorter attention span, so keep the trip playful and flexible.
  • Let the kids paddle along: also give your kids a paddle so they feel involved along the way.
  • Bring snacks and water: a short break with a snack keeps everyone motivated.
  • Provide sun protection: bobbing on the water in full sun can be treacherous, so get everyone dressed up and preferably wear a hat or sun hat too.
  • Practice dry beforehand: possibly let children get used to the paddling movement and stability of the kayak on dry land before you go into the water.
  • Let the kids guide the paddling route: at various Dobber locations, we have mapped out one or more paddling routes. It is a fun orientation exercise for the children if they can play as guides.
