Fancy a kayak or SUP trip with a unique mix of nature and the city? This route from the Blaarmeersen to the center of Ghent takes you past quiet parks, sports facilities and the impressive historic heart of the city.
You start at the Blaarmeersen and cross the street to the Vissersdijk. There, you'll sail out onto the water past the Flemish Cycling Center Eddy Merckx, with the extensive Water Sports Track across the street. You paddle straight ahead towards the Green Valley Park, a green ribbon that gently guides you to the city.
Beyond the park, you'll continue towards the Coupure to St. Michael's Bridge, where the city begins to show its historic side. The Graslei and Korenlei unfold before you, with a view of the iconic Gravensteen and the many cozy terraces.
On the way back, follow the same route to the fork, from where you now paddle towards the SMAK past the impressive Palace of Justice. At the STAM, you continue sailing until you finally reach the Blaarmeersen again. A complete trip that shows Ghent in all its facets.
Need a break along the way? Stop at the Graslei and enjoy a drink on one of the many terraces near the water.
