Fancy an extensive trip on the water through the heart of Ghent? This route takes you past the famous monuments and hidden corners of the city.
You'll leave at the Keizepoort near the Franse Vaart and paddle towards the Peperbus, the striking circular building on the waterfront. Before you know it, you'll pass Kaffee De Planck's boat and St. Peter's Abbey, where the bustling city slowly comes to life. Once at De Krook, the ultra-modern city building on the Reep, you'll paddle on to the Old Palace of Justice. With the towers of the Gravensteen in sight, you'll reach the turning point of the first loop while treating yourself to a unique view of Ghent's historic center from the water.
On the way back, follow the same route to De Krook, but then head to Portus Ganda where you get to see another part of Ghent. A little quieter and more intertwined with the greenery. You'll sail past the Fisheries, Coyendans Park and Queen Astrid Park, where the city seems to breathe just a little slower. At the Keizerpark Bicycle Bridge, your last loop starts around the Keizerpark: a surprisingly green part of the city where the water narrows a bit and you feel like you're away from it all for a while. You will eventually return to the starting point via the right arm of the park.
Fancy a drink on the go? Just knock on the boat from Kaffee de Planck - they will be happy to serve you something delicious!
