Fancy a leisurely paddling session near the city? This 4.5 km trip on the Leuven-Dyle Canal offers a nice mix of water nature and the edge of the city, with a view of the famous Stella Artois brewery along the way.
You'll depart from the pontoon near Marie Thumas, an accessible starting point in the middle of Leuven. You'll soon be sailing under the Schuiteniers Bridge and gradually leaving the city behind. The environment is getting greener, and you're paddling along the Bellefroid Ponds, a quiet zone where the water feels wider and you often spot birds or fishermen.
After this calm stretch, turn around and return in the same direction. Just before you get out, you can cruise past the Stella Artois brewery, a remarkable mix of industrial architecture and Leuven history seen from the water.
Get out on the water early in the morning: the soft light over the brewery and the canal makes for a surprising and atmospheric trip.
